Motive is a very interesting word that drives much of what we do each and every single day. Without motive, there would be no reason to do that which we find ourselves doing. Without motive I would not go to work, pay my bills or even pay my taxes. Motive is present in virtually everything we do so it would only be logical to ask an author why a book was written. This question should be answered. In fact, I would argue that it needs to be answered so that the consumer knows exactly why a product is being heavily pushed or marketed. The most important question is: “Why should I buy your book?”

Before I introduce the motive for writing this book, we must first establish what motive is so that we are on the same page. Motive is defined by the dictionary (dictionary.com) as: “1. something that causes a person to act in a certain way, do a certain thing, etc.; incentive.” The motive of why I get myself up every morning to go to work (as opposed to sleeping in and doing what I want to do all day) is because I have bills to pay. The only way I can pay those bills is to exchange my time and skills to complete a job needed in society. I get paid for contributing to society so I have the opportunity to do the things that I want to do (like play golf or go on a vacation). Just like we get up to go to work to earn money to pay our bills, an author has a motive for spending countless hours doing research and writing a book. Since we know that virtually everything we do has motive, you most likely want to know what the motive was for writing “The Quest for Absolute Truth.” Motive will let you take a peek behind the curtains to see the factors and forces that influenced an author to write and they are very important when considering which book to read and why. This question is very relevant and there is most certainly an answer.

The motive for writing “The Quest for Absolute Truth” is two-pronged. In another post (soon-to-be video), I will document how I wrote the book, but for now we will stick to motive. The main title of the book reveals a quest for that which is entirely true as it relates to theology – or the existence of God. My book is mainly comprised of apologetics and apologetics is simply the defense of the Christian faith. The motive for writing this book is simple: To try and explain, in the most effective and efficient way, how Christianity is entirely true. Now why would a person ever want to write a book about that subject? After all, is this not the one topic that is the most controversial?

Indeed, religion is perhaps one of the most controversial topics conceivable to discuss because everybody has an opinion or a view and they most likely differ from just about every other person. However, the motive in writing this book was to demonstrate that God does exist and that Christianity is entirely true. Why is demonstrating this important? Well, the Bible tells us time and time again that each person will be held accountable for the “fruit” that they have produced or that which they have done with the talents, skills and abilities that they were blessed with. It is incomprehensible for me to one day stand in front of an Almighty Judge to explain what I knew about apologetics and about other religions (and how they were false) and then refuse to share that knowledge. It would be shameful for me not to tell my family and friends that which I have discovered through hours upon hours of research and study. The primary purpose for this book is to lay out the basic framework of “why” and “how” Christianity is true so that I may share the same opportunity that somebody else once shared with me. You see, Salvation is a gift and it cannot be received unless it’s accepted, but it cannot be accepted unless it’s presented. Therefore, we return full circle. My motive is to try and present the Gospel as efficiently and effectively as possible so that every person who reads my book at least has the opportunity to say “yes” to Jesus Christ. Was this the only motive? Certainly not.

The second motive is to encourage Christians to STAND UP! for their faith and to unabashedly share their faith with family and friends as we strive to restore the Christian Nation. The first chapter of the book and the last part (Part 4) is an application of Christianity into politics and it offers some simple, yet profound, steps that Christians can take in restoring the greatest nation to have ever existed. I know that “Part 4” is controversial, as all politics is naturally controversial, but we must note that our voting record reflects our morals and our values. However, my application of politics is in strict accordance with the Holy Bible. Is it mere coincidence that Ecclesiastes 10:2 reads: “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left”? I would suggest not because the very nature of the Gospel is exclusive because Jesus said that He is “the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). Furthermore, the topics discussed in “Part 4” are all explicitly addressed in the Bible. I do not choose to be a conservative because I like to be bashed – I am constrained by the conservative nature of the Bible which rejects controversial topics such as homosexuality, abortion and socialism. The true Christian does not have a choice as to these issues because God revealed His perspective. Therefore, my second motive in writing my book leads us to the subtitle: “Encouraging You to STAND UP! so We can Restore America.” I am simply making a call for action on behalf of all Christians to stand up against the immorality that runs rampant through our nation and to reject the temptation to be a “closet Christian.” A “closet Christian” is, by nature, immoral because Jesus told us to go (which is a verb) into all the world and share the good news (Mark 16:15).

To encapsulate this post, my primary motive is to share how Christianity is entirely true (Absolute Truth) and then make a call to action to STAND UP! for that which you believe so you can give our children a better future. Our nation is in desperate need of restoration! We need Truth and we need a returning to Jesus to restore our freedom, prosperity and provide a better future for our children. Think about it! When you are old and sitting with your grandkids, how will you be able to explain to them how you helped prevent the collapse of the greatest nation to have ever existed if you did not STAND UP! and do (at least) your part to help restore the America that the founding fathers risked their lives to establish? Are we really going to let another day pass by without doing our part? Are we really going to succumb to political correctness and refuse to share? Are we really going to let justice be perverted? Are we really going to let immorality run rampant? Are we really going to let one group steal from another? Are we really going to let innocent babies be murdered because they were “inconvenient” or a surprise?

Now is your time to share with the world the Truth of Christianity. Now is your time to share how Jesus changed your life forever. Now is your time to take a stand for the innocent being murdered. Now is your time to STAND UP! and restore the Christian Nation. NOW is your time (while you still have the chance). Only one question remains: “What part will you play in the largest, and most powerful, restoration the world has ever known?”

A question was asked: “Russell, are you implying that since something is not in the Bible, that it is false, or immoral? Just curious.”

That was an excellent question and I’m glad he asked. Below was my response to an objective-minded question that leads us to confirm the veracity of the Bible:

“I’m not sure I know exactly what you’re talking about or have in mind, but based on what said – no, you can’t go that far. I believe that the Bible is entirely true, but my belief (or non-belief) is irrelevant to it actually being true because truth is irrelevant to all opinion (it always has been). What I’m saying is that the Bible was divinelyinspired and that what is recorded is correct. The veracity of the Bible is examined in the excerpt that I posted in the TQFAT photo album and you can “google” the verses to see the correlating truth.

An example would be Job 26:7. When Job was written, there were may differing beliefs. Some believed that the earth came from a cosmic egg that cracked after it fell off the back of a turtle or that Atlas held the earth on his shoulders or that the earth rested on pillars. Job 26:6 reads: “He [God] spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.”

Until recent technology existed, mankind could not physically verify that verse to be entirely true. Only recently did we have astronauts go into space and look down on earth and send back pictures so that we can confirm the veracity of that verse from an author who could not have possibly known the scientific truth behind the verse. Not that long ago people still thought the earth was flat. Which that statement also contradicts the Bible in Isaiah 40:22: “He [God] sits enthroned above the circle of the earth…” If you take any spherical object and look down, you amazingly see a circle.

Hebrews 11:3 was written in the first century and before any microscopes existed, but the author writes: “By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen [a table or a chair or even you and me] was not made out of what was visible [atoms/molecules].” It was not until much later that we discovered the atom or the molecule, but they were referenced in the first century.

My argument is that it would not have been possible to be scientifically right time after time after time, if a living God inspired those authors because they could not have possibly known the truth without the technology we have today. It’s simply not possible and if we look to the other beliefs, we kinda laugh at them because they were silly because we know the earth isn’t held up by Atlas and doesn’t rest on pillars and did not fall out of a cosmic egg.

Hope this helps…there’s a lot more in the book that extends much further than the 3 simple examples provided.”

The Quest for Absolute Truth consists of the following parts: 3/4 apologetics (defense of the Christian faith) and 1/4 application of Christianity into American politics.

The Introduction establishes that America is a Christian nation. Then the book explores the universal need that all people and civilizations have had for God. Religion is encapsulated into 4 categories: agnosticism, naturalism, pantheism and theism.

Part I is dedicated to disproving Naturalism (atheism), pantheism, agnosticism without using the Bible.

Part II makes the arguments for the necessity of the existence of God. The book disproves polytheism, deism and establishes monotheism as the only plausible answer as it relates to God. Then, the Christian faith is established as Absolute Truth.

Part III disproves Islam (contradicts itself as well as the Absolute Truth) and then book demonstrates how Judaism is partial truth (it negates Jesus as the Messiah – the way, the truth and the life. Therefore, Judaism is not entirely true).

The last part is an application of Christianity as it relates to voting, liberalism, how American schools force their students to learn Naturalism through Darwinism and non-theistic evolution (which atheism grounds itself in Naturalism) and lastly some simple, yet profound, steps we can take to restore America to the Constitution and to our Christian heritage.
